Charges after hotel project at Svartisen - suspected fraud of 29 million
After several years of investigation, Norwegian police have charged real estate profile Jan Gunnar Mathisen, linked to the high-profile hotel project Svartisen.
Mathisen is charged with aggravated fraud amounting to approximately 29 million kronor and violation of the tax payment act. According to the indictment, it involves investments from about 30 people. This is reported by Dagens Näringsliv.
The case is linked to the real estate group Miris, which went bankrupt in 2021 after raising significant capital for a number of projects - including the spectacular, circular zero-emission hotel Svart at the foot of the glacier in northern Norway.
