Dertour takes full control of hotel chain with 34 hotels
Dertour Group is buying out its partner from DSR Hotel Holding and becoming the sole owner of the hotel company with 34 hotels in Germany, Austria and Italy. The deal is another step in the travel group’s strategy to grow its own hotel business.
Dertour Group is becoming the sole owner of DSR Hotel Holding, thereby strengthening its focus on its own hotel operations. On 1 August, the travel group bought the remaining shares from Deutsche Seereederei and now has full control of the company, which operates 34 hotels in Germany, Austria and Italy.
Since 2021, DSR Hotel Holding has been a joint venture between Dertour and Deutsche Seereederei. After increasing its stake to 74.9 per cent in 2024, Dertour is now buying the remaining shares.
The hotel portfolio includes the brands A-ROSA, aja and HENRI, as well as well-known hotels such as Louis C. Jacob in Hamburg and Hotel Neptun in Warnemünde. In September, a new A-ROSA hotel will also open at Tegernsee. In total, the business employs around 2,700 people.
For Dertour, hotel operations are a priority growth area. The group’s hotel division currently includes 12 brands with around 120 hotels in 15 countries. Hotels that are easily accessible by car and train are highlighted in particular as a strategically important segment.
- By taking full ownership of DSR Hotel Holding, we are continuing to invest in a targeted expansion of our hotel operations. Our own hotels are an important part of the travel experience and deliver high guest satisfaction and profitability, says Dertour Group CEO Christoph Debus.
At the same time, DSR Hotel Holding is changing chief executive. On 15 August, Philipp von Czapiewski will take up the post and, after 21 years at TUI, will be responsible for leading the company’s continued expansion. He will also join the management team of Dertour Group’s hotel division.
