Grand Travel Award moves to Gasometer in 2027
Grand Travel Award is changing venue. On 22 April 2027, the travel industry’s gala will be held for the first time at The Dome in Gasometer, the new experiential venue in Norra Djurgårdsstaden in Stockholm.
Behind the initiative is Miramis, formerly Cirkus Venues, which is the main sponsor of the Grand Travel Award 2027. According to CEO Satu Andersson, the new arena will offer something beyond a traditional gala setting.
- Most venues of this size are empty shells that are built up ahead of each event. The Dome is designed for experiences from the ground up, where architecture, sound and light become part of the content itself, she says.
The Dome is a circular event venue with a 17-metre ceiling height and integrated technology for larger events, concerts and galas. The venue is part of Gasometer, the historic industrial building that is now being developed into a destination for culture, gastronomy and meetings.
- We want to create a place where culture, entertainment and hospitality come together in a way that has no equivalent in Scandinavia, says Satu Andersson.
For the Grand Travel Award, the move means the gala will have a new setting. According to Andersson, the ambition is to create a complete experience in which gastronomy also plays a central role. The kitchen is led by Chef of the Year winner Stefan Eriksson.
The Grand Travel Award is organised annually by Travel News and is the travel industry's biggest awards gala in the Nordics. The winners are selected through extensive surveys among travel agencies, business travellers and industry players, and honour the companies that deliver the highest quality in aviation, hotels, destinations, travel arrangements and business travel.
"We hope that guests will feel they are among the first to experience something new and that 2027 will be an edition the industry remembers for a long time," says Satu Andersson.
