Norse adds new direct flight from Oslo to Miami after world cup success

After Norway’s historic victory over Brazil in the football world cup, Norse Atlantic Airways is adding an extra direct flight from Oslo to Miami, so that more Norwegian supporters can follow the national team in the quarter-final on Saturday 11 July.

The new flight comes just a few days after the airline operated a special supporters' charter to New York ahead of the round of 16.

The extra flight departs from Oslo on Friday morning and returns on Sunday 12 July. The quarter-final will be played in Miami, where Norway will face either England or Mexico.

According to Norse, the decision was made following the huge interest from Norwegian supporters after the national team secured a historic place in the quarter-finals. The flight will be operated with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with room for 338 passengers.

- When we put on the flight to New York, we naturally hoped we would have to do it once more. This is the nicest operational challenge we could have had. The Norwegian supporters have truly shown that they are the national team's twelfth player, says Norse Group CEO Eivind Roald.

Tickets go on sale on Monday

Norse says that tickets will go on sale around lunchtime on Monday 6 July, when the final operational preparations are complete. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Just like on the supporters' flight to New York, the airline promises onboard entertainment with guests, singalongs and other activities for travellers.

The first supporters’ flight to New York took 338 Norwegian supporters across the Atlantic ahead of the round-of-16 match against Brazil.
