SAS Strike Averted – Fellesforbundet and NHO Luftfart Reach Agreement

After more than 15 hours of overtime mediation, Fellesforbundet and NHO Luftfart have reached an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement for SAS cabin crew. The threatened strike has therefore been averted.

The parties agreed on wage increases in line with the framework established by Norway’s industry-wide wage settlement, as well as important protective measures aimed at strengthening working conditions for cabin crew and supporting the positive development of the industry.

Fellesforbundet’s chief negotiator, Dag-Einar Sivertsen, welcomed the outcome:

“It has been a demanding mediation process, but we have achieved a balanced result that provides members with increased purchasing power, advance payment of care and parental benefits, and the implementation of an important protection model designed to make the industry a safer and better workplace,” said Sivertsen.

Key Elements of the Agreement

  • A general wage increase of NOK 9.00 per hour for all employees.

  • The flight allowance will be changed from a fixed amount to a percentage-based supplement and increased to 9.5 percent of base salary.

  • The purser allowance will be significantly increased for employees who became pursers after 2012.

New Workload Protection Model

As part of the agreement, the parties have introduced a new protection model aimed at reducing excessive workload.

The model is based on a points system, where different types of workload are assigned points according to how demanding they are for employees.

The objective is to ensure that no employee is subjected to an excessive workload. The points may also be linked to additional compensation for employees who choose to take on extra duties.

Membership Vote to Follow

The agreement will now be submitted to members for a ratification vote on July 30.

Fellesforbundet’s negotiating committee is recommending that members vote in favor of the agreement.
