The new lounge will replace the current facility and will have more than 60 per cent more seating. According to SAS, the investment is an important part of the airline's growth strategy.

The lounge will be gathered on one floor with views over the airport apron and will offer several different zones tailored to different types of travellers. New features include sleeping facilities, an exclusive area for the company's most frequent travellers, a family section, as well as an expanded food and beverage offering.

SAS particularly highlights a new central bar, barista coffee and a Scandinavian bakery concept as parts of the future lounge experience.

"We are developing an experience that combines innovation with personal service," says SAS as the company now begins the countdown to the opening, writes Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer at SAS,  in a post on LinkedIn.

Work on the new lounge has been under way for more than two years and the opening is planned for 1 June 2027.
