Hilton steps up investment in the United Kingdom – ten new Spark hotels on the way

The ten new Spark hotels are set to open between late 2026 and 2028 in Cardiff, Coventry, Derby, Doncaster, Hull, Peterborough, Runcorn, Sunderland, Wakefield and Washington. This is reported by Business Travel News Europe.

Together, the hotels will add 672 rooms to Hilton's UK Spark portfolio.

Spark by Hilton was launched in the US in 2023 and is Hilton's so-called premium economy concept, under which existing hotels can be converted to the brand. The first UK hotel opened in Romford in 2024.

There are currently three Spark hotels in the UK.

With the new agreements, Spark is approaching 700 rooms in the UK pipeline, with Cardiff becoming the chain's first hotel in Wales.

First Tapestry hotel in London

At the same time, Hilton is bringing its boutique-focused Tapestry Collection to London. The existing 153-room London Bridge Hotel, located next to London Bridge station, will become the first Tapestry hotel in the UK capital.

The hotel will undergo a £12 million refurbishment and is expected to reopen under the Tapestry brand in early 2028.

Hilton's Tapestry Collection is also continuing to grow in the United Kingdom and Ireland. New hotels are planned in Plymouth and Cork in 2027.

Hilton's strategy therefore continues along two distinct growth paths: Spark by Hilton targets the more price-conscious segment, while the Tapestry Collection consists of independent hotels with a more individual character.
