Here are Europe's hottest destinations in this year's major awards race

The nominations for World Travel Awards Europe 2026 have been announced. Among this year's candidates are several of Europe's most popular holiday destinations, luxury hotels and resorts. The winners will be announced at the European gala in Montenegro on 17 October.

Domestic air travel continues to plunge - down 17 per cent at Landvetter and 12 per cent at Arlanda

Despite a slight increase in the total number of air passengers, domestic air travel continues to lose ground. In June, domestic travel via Swedavia’s ten airports fell by 8 per cent compared with the same month last year, while international traffic increased by just under 3 per cent.

Reports: EU delays ETIAS

The EU is expected to postpone the introduction of the electronic travel authorisation ETIAS until 2027. The announcement comes after continued problems with the new border control system, the Entry/Exit System (EES), which according to the Financial Times has caused long queues and technical challenges at several European airports.
